CPI(M) Leader Threatens Defamation Suit Against MLA G. Sudhakaran

CPI(M) area committee member Anas Ali has accused Independent MLA G. Sudhakaran of making baseless drug allegations and has demanded their withdrawal or face a defamation suit.

M.M. Anas Ali, a CPI(M) area committee member in Haripad and vice-president of the Haripad block panchayat, has accused Independent MLA G. Sudhakaran of deliberately making baseless allegations to damage his reputation. Ali has demanded that Sudhakaran withdraw his comments linking Ali to drug rackets, warning that he will file a defamation case if the MLA refuses.

Speaking after a press conference on Saturday, Ali said the allegations have deeply affected his family. His wife has not gone to work for three days, his child has missed school, and his father skipped Friday prayers at the mosque. Ali broke down at the press conference he had convened to respond to Sudhakaran's claims.

Ali said he had a long and close relationship with Sudhakaran, who was once a powerful figure in the district party. He noted that Sudhakaran had handed him the 'Thaali' at his wedding and that party workers had visited Sudhakaran's house just a day before he left the party to convince him to stay. Ali described the allegations as coming "out of the blue."

At the press conference, Ali cautioned that he would make certain revelations if the MLA continued targeting him. These include a fake social media post about a woman politician allegedly sent by Sudhakaran and an alleged attempt to suppress an issue related to a girl's suicide in Thottappally.

Ali has sent a legal notice to Sudhakaran seeking ₹1 in damages as a token amount to establish his integrity.
