Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Show, 'The Traitors' Dominate Creative Arts Emmys

The first night of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards celebrated excellence across reality television, variety specials, and documentaries. Bad Bunny's 'The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show' emerged as the night's biggest winner, taking home seven awards. The reality competition series 'The Traitors' followed closely with six wins.

Comedian Wanda Sykes opened the ceremony, highlighting the collaborative effort behind television production. She noted that the medium is built by thousands of talented individuals working together to solve problems and create compelling content.

Jimmy Kimmel secured the first Emmy of the evening for outstanding game show host for 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?', his second consecutive win in the category. He humorously thanked the organizers for scheduling his category early, joking about the experience of winning before an audience of seat fillers.

Bad Bunny's halftime show earned recognition for its choreography, production design, music direction, and as an outstanding live variety special. Music director Miguel Gandelman discussed the logistical challenges of recording the band while the artist was on tour.

Mariska Hargitay won two awards for her documentary 'My Mom Jayne: A Film By Mariska Hargitay', including outstanding documentary or nonfiction special and outstanding directing. In her speech, she recalled the late feminist icon Gloria Steinem, quoting her advice about the importance of sharing personal stories. Hargitay described the filmmaking process as an indescribable gift that allowed her to know her mother more deeply.

Sabrina Carpenter added an Emmy to her collection for 'The Muppet Show', which won outstanding variety special (pre-recorded). She served as an executive producer and performer on the project. Seth Rogen also earned his fifth Emmy as an executive producer on the same special.

Composer Tyler Strickland won for his score on 'John Candy: I Like Me', explaining his use of a string orchestra and a French horn theme for the late comedian.

Alan Cumming won his fifth Emmy for outstanding host for a reality or reality competition program for 'The Traitors'. The award was accepted on his behalf as he was filming the show's latest season.

Octavia Spencer won outstanding narration for the docuseries 'Lost Women of Alaska', which examines the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women crisis. She expressed hope that the recognition would help bring more such stories to light for victims across all socioeconomic levels.

Netflix's 'Love on a Spectrum' received three awards, including outstanding casting for a reality program. Casting director Sean Bowman thanked the cast and team for their work on the series.
