CBSE to Announce Revised CTET 2026 Exam Dates After Application Window Closes

CBSE will release revised CTET 2026 exam dates after the reopened application portal closed on September 1.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to announce the revised examination dates for the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026. The announcement will follow the closure of the online application portal, which was reopened on August 25 to accommodate candidates who missed the earlier registration period.

The application window, which reopened under a revised schedule, closed on September 1. In a public notice, the board indicated that the new date for the CTET examination would be revealed only after the portal was shut down.

Initially, the registration process ran from May 11 to June 10, 2026, with the exam scheduled for September 6, 2026. The CBSE cited a Supreme Court directive that stressed the importance of giving eligible teachers a fair opportunity to meet the statutory requirement of obtaining the prescribed TET qualification.

Explaining its decision, the board said it had chosen to open the online application portal again in the larger interest of candidates who could not use the earlier window.

As per the official test structure, the CTET will consist entirely of multiple-choice questions, each offering four alternatives with one correct answer. Every question carries one mark, and there is no negative marking for incorrect responses.
