C.V. Raman Nagar residents petition MLA against B-SMILE elevated corridors

Residents of C.V. Raman Nagar submitted a memorandum to their MLA, S. Raghu, on Saturday, urging him to intervene against the elevated corridors project being implemented by Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Ltd. (B-SMILE).

A delegation from the neighbourhood visited the legislator's office to hand over the memorandum, which set out the community's concerns about how the proposed corridor could affect local areas.

The residents are part of a citizen campaign that wants the government to scrap the proposed elevated corridors and cancel the tenders already awarded for the work. The group has argued that the project's estimated budget of ₹13,000 crore should instead be redirected towards mobility solutions it describes as scientifically backed.

About two weeks before the memorandum was submitted, the same group held a citizen discussion on the project titled "Dear DK, Flyover Yaake?".

Beyond the meeting with Mr. Raghu, the campaigners said they contacted Shanthinagar MLA N.A. Haris of the Congress by phone and shared a copy of the memorandum with him. The coalition intends to approach other legislators whose constituencies lie along the proposed elevated corridor routes as it continues its opposition to the project.
