CWG 2026 Medalists Share Their Journeys on KBC 18 Hotseat
Lovlina Borgohain, Asmita Dey, Jhandu Kumar, and Sharmila Dhankar appeared on KBC 18, discussing their journeys and the challenges they overcame.
Four medalists from the Commonwealth Games 2026 recently took the famous hotseat on 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' Season 18, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. The athletes — boxer Lovlina Borgohain, judoka Asmita Dey, para powerlifter Jhandu Kumar, and para-athlete Sharmila Dhankar — shared insights into their careers and the experiences that shaped them.
During the episode, the sportspersons spoke about the discipline and resilience required in their respective fields. Sharmila Dhankar reflected on the years of quiet effort behind her achievements, noting that appearing on the show felt like a recognition of those unseen struggles. She described her conversation with Mr. Bachchan as encouraging, adding that the platform highlighted the message that determination can overcome any obstacle.
Lovlina Borgohain, who secured a silver in the 75 kg boxing category, compared the intensity of the KBC hotseat to stepping into an Olympic ring. She said the experience tested her mental sharpness in a new way and expressed pride in being celebrated alongside her fellow athletes on a national platform.
Asmita Dey, who made history by winning India's first-ever gold in judo at the Games, spoke about her long-standing connection with the show. She recalled watching KBC with her family as a ritual and described being on stage as surreal. Dey noted that judo demands balance and focus, and she felt honored to bring the story of her sport to millions of households.
Jhandu Kumar, who won India's first medal at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in men's heavyweight para powerlifting, was also part of the special episode.
'Kaun Banega Crorepati' Season 18 airs Monday through Friday at 9:00 pm on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV.
