
Cyberabad traffic police net 182 drunk drivers in weekend crackdown
Cyberabad Traffic Police apprehended 182 motorists in a weekend drunk-driving drive. Most were two-wheeler riders; all will face court proceedings.
The Cyberabad Traffic Police apprehended 182 motorists during a special enforcement drive against drunk driving conducted over the weekend. The operation targeted motorists across the commissionerate limits, with officials carrying out checks at multiple locations.
Two-wheeler riders accounted for the majority of those caught, with 154 such vehicles involved. Seven offenders were driving three-wheelers, while 20 were in four-wheelers. One heavy vehicle operator was also among those apprehended.
Breath analysis revealed a wide range of blood alcohol concentration (BAC) levels among the offenders. A total of 149 motorists recorded BAC levels between 36 mg/100 ml and 200 mg/100 ml. Another 25 had levels ranging from 201 mg/100 ml to 300 mg/100 ml, while eight were found with levels between 301 mg/100 ml and 550 mg/100 ml. All 182 offenders are set to be produced before the court for further legal action.
In a related development, the police noted that courts disposed of 308 drunk-driving cases between August 24 and 29. Of these, 301 offenders were fined, seven were ordered to pay a fine along with performing social service, and one person was sentenced to a fine along with imprisonment.
