Daimler Truck to Launch Second €1.1 Billion Buyback Tranche

Daimler Truck will start the second €1.1 billion buyback tranche by mid-September, following improved U.S. conditions and a raised profit outlook.

Daimler Truck has confirmed that it will launch the second tranche of its share buyback programme, worth up to €1.1 billion ($1.3 billion), immediately after the first tranche is completed by mid-September. The announcement was made on Friday, following the company's decision last month to raise its profit forecast for 2026, driven by better business conditions in the United States.

The second phase of the buyback will run until the end of June 2027, according to Chief Financial Officer Eva Scherer. The company also reaffirmed its pre-announced second-quarter results, which showed an 18% decline in adjusted operating profit to €838 million.

In a related move, Daimler Truck, which owns the U.S. brand Freightliner, said on Thursday that it plans to build a new manufacturing facility in the United States as part of its strategy to expand its North American presence. The company is currently evaluating several potential locations, with construction expected to begin in late 2026 and production slated to start in 2029.

The improved outlook for the rest of the year was attributed to higher expected unit sales at its North American arm and a lower tariff burden. This follows the U.S. Department of Commerce's approval of the company's U.S. Content application, which updated its tariff framework with an effective date of November 1, 2025.
