Bidar educationist seeks CID probe against Dalit leader for harassment

Educationist Mahesh Rampure has called on the police to take legal action against Dalit leader Rajkumar Mulabharathi, accusing him of harassing poor Dalits and stoking social discord in Hamilapur village in Bidar taluk.

Speaking to reporters in Bidar on Saturday, Rampure alleged that Mulabharathi has been fostering animosity between communities in the village, leading to social unrest. He said a complaint has already been lodged with the police against Mulabharathi and his son Avinash over these allegations.

Rampure further claimed that Mulabharathi has been threatening officials and attempting to blackmail them by filing false complaints. He also alleged that Avinash is involved in unlawful activities and urged a comprehensive investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The educationist expressed dissatisfaction with the endorsement issued by Bidar Rural Police Station inspector Mallikarjun Yathanur, claiming the action was one-sided and based on confusion over dates without properly questioning the complainants. He has sought a review of the matter by a senior police officer.

Rampure has requested an impartial inquiry into the allegations and urged the police to provide protection to him and other village leaders to preserve peace and communal harmony in the area.

Among those present at the press conference were Taluk Guarantee Schemes vice-president Maruti Bhangare and Hamilapur residents Sharadabai, Kasturi, Ghalemma, Shivraj, Wilson, Ravi, Mahesh, Laxman Kamble, Eeramma and Chitramma.
