Dasara 2026 to debut Kambala in Mysuru, online registration now open
Registration has opened for the first-ever Dasara Kambala in Mysuru, with buffalo owners and runners able to apply online until Wednesday.
Online registration has begun for the first Kambala to be held as part of the Mysuru Dasara-2026 celebrations, opening the door for buffalo owners and traditional runners from across the state to take part in the coastal sport's Dasara debut.
The event is scheduled to take place near VTU along the Outer Ring Road at Sathagalli and is being positioned as one of the headline attractions of this year's festivities, according to the Working President of the Kambala Sub-Committee and Deputy Secretary (Development) of the Zilla Panchayat.
Participants can enter under multiple competition categories through a dedicated online portal at kambala.milieumedia.in. The window for submitting applications and entries closes on Wednesday.
For those who prefer to register in person, application forms are available at the Zilla Panchayat office in Mysuru.
Kambala, traditionally associated with coastal Karnataka, involves pairs of buffaloes racing through prepared tracks guided by runners. Its inclusion in the Dasara calendar marks an expansion of the festival's cultural programming beyond its established events.
