Delhi BRICS Summit 2026: What Stays Open, What's Shut on Sept 12-13

New Delhi is set to host the BRICS Summit on September 12 and 13, and the two-day event will bring a set of restrictions and service changes across the capital and the wider National Capital Region.

For residents, the most immediate questions are about what remains open and what does not. Schools and colleges in the city will be closed on both days, and offices are also expected to remain shut. Banks will not function either, with the closures applying through the summit period.

Travel within Delhi NCR will be affected by road restrictions. Certain routes are to be avoided on September 12 and 13, and commuters have been advised to plan their journeys around these curbs rather than rely on usual routes.

Public transport, however, will continue to run. Metro services will operate through the summit days, and buses will also remain available for commuters. Taxis are expected to ply as well, giving residents options even as road restrictions remain in force.

Airport-bound passengers and those arriving in the city will need to account for the traffic measures while planning their trips, since the restrictions cover stretches of the NCR road network.

Food delivery services are also part of the arrangements for the two days, with residents advised to check how their orders may be affected by the movement curbs.

With the summit drawing delegations and security arrangements to the capital, the closures and traffic diversions are aimed at keeping the event period manageable for both the visiting contingents and the city's residents. Those travelling on September 12 and 13 are advised to leave with extra time and to keep an eye on official updates on routes and services.
