All three accused arrested in Delhi gang rape of 17-year-old near Kalkaji

Two brothers who had been evading police were arrested early on Tuesday morning from their home in Faridabad, Haryana, in connection with the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in South Delhi. With their arrest, all three men named in the case are now in custody.

The girl was assaulted on Monday at a park near Kalkaji Mandir by three men who posed as police officers. A case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act along with other provisions of law.

The first arrest came after a brief exchange of fire, when the accused, identified as Asif, was taken into custody. Police then mounted a search operation to trace the remaining two suspects, who were eventually found at their Faridabad residence.

One of the brothers, Hemant, is a lawyer who practises at Saket court. According to police, he used legal jargon to intimidate the woman before the three men together raped her. His brother Mukesh is a final-year BSc student. Their father is a practising lawyer at the Faridabad court.

Investigations into the case are continuing.
