Delhi Plans Hostels for 10,000 Students, Says CM Rekha Gupta

The Delhi government is preparing to build hostel facilities for 10,000 students in the national capital, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said, describing the move as an effort to give students safe, affordable and comfortable accommodation.

The hostels will serve both male and female students enrolled at colleges and universities in Delhi. According to the Chief Minister, the facilities are meant for young people who arrive in the city from different parts of the country and need a secure place to stay while they study.

Work on the proposal has already started. The government has begun discussions with the departments concerned and is searching for suitable locations for the project. A policy for the hostel scheme is also being prepared.

In a video shared on social media, Gupta said the first phase of the project will provide fully equipped hostel facilities to 10,000 students. She said students come to Delhi to study and build a better future, and that the government wants to give them a safe and supportive environment where they can concentrate on their education.

The planned hostels are expected to include the amenities students need for a comfortable stay. The scheme also aims to ease worries about accommodation and food so that students can focus on their studies.

The announcement comes amid wider concerns about the safety and condition of student housing in Delhi. The proposed hostels are expected to offer more affordable and safer options for students in the city.
