Delhi Police constable suspended over firearm videos filmed during BRICS summit duty
Constable Deepak Bangar has been suspended after videos of him posing with firearms, filmed while he was on BRICS summit duty in Delhi, surfaced online.
A Delhi Police constable has been suspended after videos showing him posing with firearms circulated on social media, with the clips apparently recorded while he was deployed for the recently concluded BRICS summit in the national capital.
The constable, Deepak Bangar, was attached to the Foreigners Cell in North West District. During the two-day summit, he was posted at one of the hotels that formed part of the security arrangement for the event.
The videos, which have since been widely shared, show Mr. Bangar handling firearms on what appears to be a high-rise rooftop. Their circulation drew sharp criticism from social media users.
The summit, the 18th edition of the BRICS gathering, was held in New Delhi from September 11 to September 13, 2026, and brought foreign dignitaries to the city. Security for the event was extensive, involving around 15,000 Delhi Police personnel, 200 companies of paramilitary forces and more than 500 CCTV cameras.
The suspension follows the surfacing of the recordings, which were made while the constable was on duty for the high-profile event.
