Delhi Colleges Open Doors to Students After Satya Niketan Building Collapse
Several Delhi University colleges near Satya Niketan are providing shelter and food after a building collapse disrupted student housing.
In the wake of a building collapse in Satya Niketan, several Delhi University colleges in the south campus area have stepped in to support affected students. The incident has disrupted accommodation for many, prompting institutions to cancel classes and open their premises as temporary shelters.
Sri Venkateswara College, located close to the site of the collapse, has announced the cancellation of classes for Monday. The college administration has stated that students in need of immediate shelter can stay in classrooms on campus. This arrangement is available for both male and female students. The college is also providing food to those who have been displaced or are unable to access their regular accommodation. The offer of shelter extends to students of the college as well as to girl students from other south campus colleges.
Motilal Nehru College has also made arrangements for temporary shelter. The college has converted its staff room into a dormitory, equipped with mattresses and other essentials. Meals, including dinner and breakfast, are being arranged through the college canteen. Female students are being accommodated in the library's reading room.
Aryabhatta College has similarly declared itself a temporary shelter for affected students. While teaching activities have been suspended for the day, the college has confirmed that teachers and non-teaching staff will remain on campus to provide cooperation and support to those in need.
