Three Delhi Schools Evacuated After Bomb Threat Emails, Checks Find Nothing
Three Delhi schools received bomb threat emails on Tuesday, prompting evacuations and security checks. No suspicious objects were found and the threats were declared hoaxes.
Three schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails on Tuesday, triggering evacuations and security searches across their campuses, an official said.
The schools were the British School in Chanakyapuri, Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodi Estate.
The Delhi Fire Service said it received a call from Army Public School at 11.30 am, after which a fire tender was sent to the Dhaula Kuan premises. A fire service official said the threat was declared a hoax at 1.05 pm following a thorough check.
Police also received information about a bomb threat email at the British School, which was similarly declared a hoax after inspection.
Security personnel combed the school buildings and the areas around them for any suspicious object or material. No explosive or suspicious item was found during the checks, the officer said, and the threat was declared a hoax once security agencies finished their inspection.
Sardar Patel Vidyalaya said in a notice that students had been safely evacuated after a security threat was received, and that police had been informed and were taking the necessary steps. The notice said middle school students had completed their examinations, while senior school students had finished most of theirs. The school said it would assess the situation carefully before deciding on the remaining senior school examinations.
Investigators are looking into the source of the emails and examining the details of the threats. Further investigation is underway to identify the sender, officials said.
