Three Delhi schools evacuated after bomb threat emails, all declared hoax
Bomb threat emails sent to three Delhi schools on Tuesday prompted evacuations and security checks; all threats were declared hoaxes and no suspicious objects were found.
Three schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails on Tuesday, prompting evacuations and security checks across their campuses, officials said. The threats were later declared hoaxes after inspections found nothing suspicious.
The schools affected were British School in Chanakyapuri, Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodi Estate.
The Delhi Fire Service said it received a call from Army Public School at 11.30 a.m., after which a fire tender was dispatched to the Dhaula Kuan location. A fire service official said the threat was declared a hoax at 1.05 p.m. following a thorough check.
Police received information about a bomb threat email at British School. That threat was also declared a hoax after checks. Security personnel examined the school buildings and surrounding areas for any suspicious object or material, and no explosive or suspicious item was found, an officer said.
Sardar Patel Vidyalaya said in a notice that students were safely evacuated after a security threat was received. Police were informed and were taking the necessary steps, the school said. According to the notice, middle school students had completed their examinations, while senior school students had finished most of theirs. The school said it would assess the situation carefully before deciding on the remaining senior school examinations.
Investigators are looking into the source of the emails and examining the details of the threats. Further investigation is underway to identify the sender, officials said.
