Delhi Voters Missing From Draft Roll Can Apply For Inclusion: Here's How

The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer has published the draft electoral roll under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), covering all 14,947 polling booths in the national capital. The exercise has left out approximately 47.56 lakh names, which is roughly 33 per cent of the city's total electorate.

Officials have attributed the exclusions to five broad reasons: voters being absent, shifted, dead, duplicate entries, or falling under an "others" category. A missing name does not mean a permanent loss of voting rights — the SIR is designed to verify eligibility and correct details in the rolls.

Steps for affected voters

First, search for your name in the draft roll and also check the separate list of excluded names, along with the reason cited. If you believe you are eligible, you can apply for inclusion by submitting Form 6 during the claims and objections period. The Chief Electoral Officer has clarified that Form 6 can be filed online or offline, accompanied by the required declaration and supporting documents.

Applicants must provide documents proving eligibility, age, and place of ordinary residence. After submission, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant ERO may direct a Booth Level Officer (BLO) to verify the details at the applicant's residence before a final decision is made.

If the ERO rejects the application, the voter can file an appeal before the District Election Officer during the revision process. Further appeal provisions exist before the Chief Electoral Officer as per the Election Commission's general guidance.
