Delhi SIR: AAP Says Kejriwal Missing From Voter List, EC Says Notices Only for Unmapped Electors

The Aam Aadmi Party said on Saturday that former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his family members no longer figure on Delhi's voter list, pointing to notices issued to them under the Election Commission's ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR). An Election Commission official responded that the names remain on the list, and that notices went out only because the electors had not mapped themselves to the previous SIR list.

A check on the Delhi election department website showed that Arvind Kejriwal, his wife Sunita Kejriwal, his parents Gobind Ram Kejriwal and Gita Devi, and his son Pulkit are on the rolls in the New Delhi constituency. All of them voted in last year's Delhi Assembly elections. The AAP's official handle on X questioned how the names of a three-time chief minister and his family could be absent from the voter list.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also received a notice, for the Shalimar Bagh constituency, citing a parent age difference of less than 15 years. The Electoral Registration Officer for the constituency said her details had since been verified and she has been added to the final list. Gupta is a longtime resident of the area and a former corporator.

According to figures shared on Saturday, more than 31 lakh electors have been issued notices, while the draft voter list carries 97.5 lakh names. The draft was prepared after 47.5 lakh voters — nearly a third of the total — were removed for reasons including permanent relocation, absence, death, or enrolment at multiple places.

The Delhi election office said it had published online the list of names with discrepancies. "As on date, 31,63,930 notices have been generated and are being delivered to electors concerned of Delhi. Notices are being issued to the electors who could not be linked with the electoral roll of the last revision and to those having logical discrepancies in their linking with the electoral roll of the last revision," it said in a statement.

Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar said at a press conference that there are two categories of notices: one for unmapped voters, and another for mapped voters whose names or dates of birth carry minor discrepancies. Teams are holding camps to conduct hearings, and electors must submit replies with the required documents to their EROs. Disposal of notices is to be completed by October 10, he said.

The ERO for the New Delhi Assembly constituency had earlier clarified that omission from the draft roll does not amount to a final determination of ineligibility. Booth Level Officers carried out house-to-house visits to distribute enumeration forms and conduct verification as prescribed under the poll body's instructions of May 14, 2026. Eligible persons not on the draft roll can seek inclusion through Form 6, with the necessary declaration and supporting documents, during the claims and objections window running from August 31 to September 30. The final list is scheduled for release on November 4.
