Delhi Teen Dies by Suicide After Being Scolded for Coming Home Late

A 13-year-old girl in Delhi's Shahdara died by suicide after being scolded for returning home late. Her sister found her hanging and rushed her to hospital.

A 13-year-old girl has died in Delhi's Shahdara area under tragic circumstances. Police said the minor allegedly took her own life at her home in Krishna Nagar after being admonished by family members for arriving late.

The incident came to light when the girl's sister discovered her hanging and brought her down. The child was found unconscious on the floor when police arrived following a PCR call. She was immediately taken to Dr Hedgewar Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Preliminary inquiries suggest the girl had returned home late and was scolded by her family. Later, her sister found her in a critical state and raised an alarm, prompting neighbours to break open the door.

A neighbour, who works with the girl's sister, recounted the sequence of events. He said the sister had tried calling her around 9:30 pm but received no response, prompting her to rush home. When repeated knocks went unanswered, the door was forced open, and the girl was found hanging by a rope. Her sister cut the rope and brought her down.

Police have initiated legal proceedings in connection with the case. Further investigation is underway.
