Delhi Traffic Curbs on Sept 3 for BRICS Summit Motorcade Rehearsal

The Delhi Traffic Police have announced significant traffic restrictions for Thursday, September 3, to facilitate a rehearsal for the upcoming BRICS Summit motorcade. The regulations will be in effect from 10 am to 3 pm, impacting vehicular movement across central and south Delhi.

The rehearsal precedes the 18th BRICS Summit, scheduled for September 12-13 at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan. During the five-hour window, traffic will be regulated at 22 designated diversion points and on more than 35 major roads.

Affected Corridors

Key routes in central and New Delhi, including Sardar Patel Marg, Janpath, Ashoka Road, and Barakhamba Road, will see restricted movement. Connecting arterial roads such as Mathura Road and Moti Lal Nehru Marg, along with diplomatic enclave roads like Shanti Path and Panchsheel Marg, are also on the list.

Diversion Details

At Connaught Place, traffic towards C-Hexagon from Janpath and Kasturba Gandhi Marg will be halted, with diversions via the Outer Circle. Movement onto Mathura Road from W-Point will be stopped, redirecting vehicles via BSZ Marg. Access to Sardar Patel Marg from Dhaula Kuan will be closed, and traffic on Lodhi Road will not be permitted to turn onto several intersecting roads.

Travel to Airports and Stations

Commuters heading to IGI Airport from south Delhi are advised to use the AIIMS Chowk-Moti Bagh-RTR Marg route. For railway stations, specific alternate routes have been outlined. Officials recommend using the Delhi Metro, which will operate normally, for all such travel.

Advisory for Commuters

Motorists are urged to plan journeys in advance and follow traffic personnel instructions. Roadside parking within 200 metres of controlled roads is prohibited. Emergency vehicles will be given unobstructed passage, and non-designated commercial vehicles will be barred from entering Delhi during the regulated period.
