Detroit After-Hours Club Shooting Leaves Three Dead, Four Injured

Three men were killed and four other people were wounded when an argument turned into gunfire at an after-hours strip club in Detroit early Sunday morning, according to police.

Officers were called to the scene on a mostly residential street at 7:21 a.m. and found the three men dead from gunshot wounds, Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said at a news conference.

The four injured victims — two men and two women — were taken to hospitals in private vehicles, Bettison said. All those involved are believed to be in their 20s and 30s.

"A fight occurred, an altercation occurred, and as a result individuals decided to settle it with gun violence," Bettison said.

The chief described the location as an after-hours venue, saying, "Imagine a strip club. … I'll leave it at that."

Bettison noted that the address was familiar to the department, which had responded to seven calls there this year. He said investigators had leads but declined to provide further details.

Mayor Mary Sheffield, speaking at the same news conference, urged anyone with information to come forward.

"We know that we need more people to speak up to bring justice to the situation," she said. "It's heartbreaking and our community should not suffer from this type of violence."
