Former Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi Missing From Punjab Draft Voter List
Two-time Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi's name is missing from Punjab's draft electoral rolls after the SIR exercise; he has filed objections with documents.
The name of Dharamvira Gandhi, a two-time Member of Parliament from Patiala, is absent from Punjab's draft electoral rolls following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The development came to light on Thursday.
Gandhi, a senior Congress leader who has also represented the constituency on an AAP ticket, said his family's votes, including his own, are missing from the rolls. He noted that he has resided at his current address since around 2000 and has contested three Lok Sabha elections from that house, winning two. Despite this permanent address being recorded in official documents, his name and those of his family members do not appear in the draft list.
Gandhi stated that he has already raised objections and submitted the required paperwork to ensure the names are restored in the final rolls. He said he submitted his passport, Class 10 certificate, and other relevant documents for himself, his wife Jagdamba Kaushal, his son Nivendu Prashar, and his daughter Rohini Prashar at the office of the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer.
According to available information, Gandhi has been told that his details in the 2003 electoral roll do not match the documents he submitted during the current revision process. Officials have not yet responded to his individual case.
Eligible citizens whose names do not appear in the draft electoral roll can file claims with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents between August 13 and September 12.
