Karnataka Man Kills Wife Over Affair Suspicion, Hangs Self
A man in Karnataka's Dharwad district allegedly murdered his wife over an affair suspicion, then died by suicide. Police have registered a murder case.
A 28-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife before dying by suicide at their home in Garag village, Dharwad taluk, on Thursday night. The deceased have been identified as Moulasab (28), a mason and daily-wage labourer, and his wife Salma (22).
The couple, married for three years, had a one-and-a-half-year-old child. Police suspect Moulasab killed Salma over his belief that she was having an affair. The couple had frequently quarrelled over this issue, and relatives had even held a mediation meeting two days before the incident to resolve the dispute. However, the matter resurfaced.
Police received information about the incident around 10:30 pm on Thursday. When a team reached the house, they found Salma dead and Moulasab hanging from a ceiling fan. Salma's grandmother lodged a murder complaint alleging that Moulasab killed her with a knife.
Dharwad Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya said a case has been registered under Section 103(1) (punishment for murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Garag Police Station. Preliminary investigation indicates Moulasab suspected his wife's character and frequently argued with her over his belief that she was in contact with another man. Further investigation is underway.
