Dhinakaran Calls TVK Government 'Immature', AMMK to Back AIADMK in Bypolls

Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Thursday described the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, as "immature" and said it lacked clarity on how to govern Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to journalists at Tiruchi, Mr. Dhinakaran alleged that the State was passing through a "dark period" under the TVK government, which he characterised as "Tughlaq-style rule" under Mr. Vijay.

The AMMK leader said the government had no basic understanding of governance and no common sense about it. He questioned how such an administration could frame a vision for long-term schemes needed for the State's development and growth, claiming it had no schemes for any sector that could drive progress and no knowledge of governance.

Mr. Dhinakaran further alleged that the TVK government had failed to handle the Cauvery water issue and the problem of price rise properly, and was instead blaming others for its shortcomings.

He noted that Tamil Nadu had witnessed progress on many fronts during six decades of Dravidian party rule, and that people had elected the TVK seeking a change. However, he claimed that voters had already realised they had elected the wrong people to rule them, and would teach the TVK a fitting lesson in the upcoming bypolls to two Assembly constituencies.

Responding to a question, Mr. Dhinakaran said the AMMK would extend support to the AIADMK during the bypolls and work for its victory.
