Disha Salian's father seeks death penalty or life term after CBI FIR

Satish Salian has demanded life imprisonment or the death penalty for those responsible for his daughter Disha Salian's 2020 death, after the CBI registered an FIR in the case.

The father of Disha Salian has demanded the harshest penalties for those he holds responsible for his daughter's death, submitting statements to officials that name several high-profile figures. The development follows the Central Bureau of Investigation registering a formal FIR in connection with Salian's death on June 8, 2020, acting on directions from the Bombay High Court.

Satish Salian said justice must be delivered and that those responsible should face the punishment prescribed by law. He said that just as his daughter was stripped of her dignity, those behind it would likewise be stripped of theirs, and called for either life imprisonment or the death penalty.

According to Advocate Nilesh Ojha, who represents the family, the CBI FIR and the statements list multiple individuals, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, actors Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi, their bodyguards, Rohan Roy, Rhea Chakraborty, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, Sachin Vaze, former DCP Vishal Thakur, and the former police inspector of the Malwani police station. Ojha also said the FIR names members of an SIT, a doctor and a chemical analyst.

Satish Salian said he provided officials with the names of those who committed the atrocity and handed over all the details in his statement, including the names of Aaditya Thackeray, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi and their bodyguards, as well as those he alleged were involved in covering up the matter, such as Param Bir Singh, Rhea Chakraborty and Sachin Vaze.

The statements allege both direct involvement and a broader law-enforcement cover-up. Salian was found dead in Mumbai on June 8, 2020, and her death was initially recorded as an Accidental Death Report. She died days before actor Sushant Singh Rajput, whose death also triggered a high-profile investigation and public controversy.

Sooraj Pancholi said in an Instagram statement that he has been unfairly dragged into the matter. He said he would continue to cooperate with the CBI while maintaining that he never met Disha Salian and had no connection or association with her. He also said he has never met Aaditya Thackeray, calling it unfair and upsetting to see his name linked to something he has nothing to do with, especially in the absence of evidence connecting him to the matter.
