Dollywood to Add Waterfall, Chapel Windows in Memory of Dolly Parton
Dollywood will add a waterfall, stained glass windows, and a 'Dream Maker' character to honor the late Dolly Parton, who died at 80.
Dollywood, the theme park founded by Dolly Parton in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, will introduce several new features in memory of the singer, who passed away at the age of 80. Park officials announced the plans during a press conference on Wednesday.
Among the additions will be a new character called the Dream Maker, inspired by Parton's Imagination Library, a book-gifting program. The park will also install a waterfall and add stained glass windows to its chapel, a nod to Parton's deep faith.
In addition to the physical tributes, Dollywood will set up kiosks where visitors can share their memories of Parton. The Dolly Parton Experience, a multibuilding exhibit tracing her life and career, will also receive new elements.
Beyond the park, the nearby city of Sevierville will place markers throughout town for a self-guided walking tour highlighting locations significant to Parton, who grew up in rural Sevier County. Under her stewardship, Dollywood became the county's largest employer and a major regional tourist draw.
