Delhi University Suspends Three LLB Students Over Harassment of Hindu College Women
Delhi University has suspended three LLB students accused of stalking and harassing two Hindu College women in Mukherjee Nagar, barring them from campus.
The University of Delhi has suspended three LLB students accused of stalking and harassing two women students in Mukherjee Nagar, and barred them from entering any university premises.
The students — Naman, Abhinav Kumar and Abhimanyu Kumar — are enrolled in the LLB programme at Law Centre-II, Umang Bhawan. The action follows an FIR registered by the Delhi Police in connection with the alleged harassment of the two Hindu College students.
Notices issued by the Office of the Proctor on 28 September 2026 state that the suspensions were ordered under Clause 3(e) of Ordinance XV-B of the Delhi University Act, 1922. That provision treats any practice — verbal or otherwise — that is derogatory of women as an act of gross indiscipline. Each notice records that the suspensions and campus bans were approved by the Competent Authority of the University of Delhi.
Authorities said the suspensions take effect immediately and that the three students are prohibited from entering any University of Delhi premises until further notice.
The case stems from an incident on the evening of 23 September 2026, when the two women were walking near Mukherjee Nagar after visiting the Vijaynagar Haqiqat Park. According to an account one of the women posted on Instagram, a white Tata Safari approached them at around 9:30 pm and the men inside made comments about them.
The woman, a first-year Master's student at Hindu College, said the driver, Naman, remarked that her T-shirt — a red one with "Urban Mindset" printed on it — "looks great". When the women objected and asked the men to leave, they were abused, she said. The men followed them and tried to pull them into the car, and drove away only after her friend took out her phone to record the incident.
