Delhi University Thanks Students, Staff and Police After Orderly DUSU Elections
Delhi University thanked students, staff and Delhi Police for the orderly conduct of DUSU elections 2026, in which ABVP won three of four central posts.
The University of Delhi has expressed its gratitude to students, teachers, officers and officials for what it described as the disciplined and orderly conduct of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections.
In a post on X, the university also commended its election team for overseeing the process smoothly and acknowledged the work of the Delhi Police and other security forces deployed during the polls.
"We would like to thank all students, teachers, officers and officials of the University for ensuring a disciplined and orderly DUSU election," the university said, adding that it appreciated the hard work of the police and other forces throughout the election process.
Polling for the four central posts — president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary — was held on September 18 in two shifts for day and evening colleges. Counting took place on September 19 at the university's North Campus and concluded after 20 rounds.
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won three of the four posts. Yash Dabas took the president's position with 24,576 votes, defeating NSUI's Vijay Shankar Meena, who polled 22,523 votes. Riya Chhawdi won the secretary's post with 21,650 votes, while Lakshya Raj Singh secured the joint secretary's post with 16,615 votes.
Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won the vice-president's post with 30,615 votes.
