EU Aviation Safety Agency Extends Gulf Airspace Advisory
EASA extends Gulf airspace warning to Sept 30, narrows scope to waters, lifts Jordan advisory, keeps Iran, Iraq, Lebanon restrictions.
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has extended its advisory for airlines to avoid certain airspace over the Persian Gulf until September 30. The updated notice narrows the earlier recommendation, which had urged carriers to steer clear of the entire airspace of Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE. Now, the warning applies specifically to the waters of the Persian Gulf within those countries' territories.
In addition, EASA has advised airlines not to operate over the waters of the Gulf of Oman within Oman's Muscat flight information region. The agency has also lifted its previous recommendation to avoid Jordanian airspace, though it continues to advise caution there through the end of September.
Restrictions remain in place for the airspace of Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon, with EASA recommending that airlines avoid these areas until September 30. The revised advisory reflects a more targeted approach to regional risks while maintaining precautionary measures for the broader Middle East.
