BJP Allies Back Election Commission's Clarification, Hit Out at Opposition

Allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party have come out in support of the Election Commission after the poll body issued a clarification in the ongoing row over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, even as they trained their fire on the Opposition.
Among those who welcomed the clarification was Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who backed the Commission's position. Janata Dal (United) working president Sanjay Jha also defended the poll panel's integrity and joined the attack on the Opposition.
The allies accused opposition parties of spreading misinformation around the electoral revision exercise. They argued that the criticism was aimed at undermining confidence in the institutions that conduct elections.
Both leaders emphasised the importance of public trust in democratic institutions, framing the debate as one that goes beyond partisan politics. Their remarks signal a coordinated defence of the Election Commission by the ruling alliance as the controversy continues.
