ED arrests ex-Baghel aide's nephew in CGPSC question paper leak case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested a relative of a former aide of ex-Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in connection with the alleged CGPSC recruitment scam. The arrest follows multiple raids conducted by the agency in the state on Wednesday.
The accused, Utkarsh Chandrakar, is the nephew of K.K. Chandravanshi, who served as Personal Assistant to Bhupesh Baghel during his tenure as Chief Minister. According to the ED, Chandrakar exploited his uncle's "name, position and influence" to lure job aspirants and collect money from them.
The agency alleged that Chandrakar, along with Dr. Vikash Chandrakar, collected ₹3 crore in cash from candidates promising to provide leaked question papers for the CGPSC-2021 examination. Of this amount, approximately ₹2.80 crore was handed over to another individual, Anil Chandrakar.
The case relates to alleged irregularities, question paper leaks, and corruption in recruitment exams conducted by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) in 2020 and 2021. Central agencies have stated that question papers were leaked to relatives of the accused and to selected candidates in exchange for money, facilitated by private brokers. This led to fraudulent selections for senior posts such as Deputy Collector and Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The ED is investigating money laundering charges linked to the scam.
