Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has been notified of reports of GPS system instability affecting certain aircraft types, including its E2 family of jets, the planemaker said.
Embraer said it is closely monitoring the situation alongside operators and the equipment manufacturer, providing technical support to customers and taking the steps needed to address the issue.
According to the company, the problem may affect airlines' operational schedules, but it does not compromise flight safety. Embraer noted that the global E2 fleet is fitted with navigation systems and procedures that allow the aircraft to keep operating even when GPS signals are unstable.
Separately, Brazilian carrier Azul said the instability has affected the operation of its E2 fleet. The airline said it is putting operational measures in place that could lead to adjustments in its route network and the schedules of certain flights.
The statements point to a disruption that is operational rather than safety-related, with the planemaker and at least one operator coordinating their response.
