Television's Biggest Names Walk Blue Carpet at 78th Emmy Awards (2026-09-15)
The 78th annual Emmy Awards brought television's top talent to the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with a blue carpet and a ceremony honouring small-screen milestones.
Television's leading performers converged on the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday night for the 78th annual Emmy Awards, walking an unconventional blue carpet that echoed the broadcaster's peacock emblem.
The carpet, rather than the traditional red, reflected the ceremony's live broadcast on NBC, which is marking its 100th anniversary this year. The event was also streamed live on Peacock.
Among those posing for photographs and greeting colleagues before the ceremony were Kristen Bell, Megan Stalter and Dakota Fanning. Stalter was also seen alongside Paul W. Downs, while other arrivals included Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Lucia Aniello, Jen Statsky, Youn Yuh-jung, Mikaela Hoover, Sara Foster and Erin Foster, Jessica Williams, Brett Goldstein, Keri Russell with Matthew Rhys, Rhea Seehorn, Emma D'Arcy, Tiffany Haddish, Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn with John Mulaney, Taylor Dearden, Emmy Rossum, Tyler James Williams, Jason Bateman with Amanda Anka, and Steve Carell.
The ceremony was hosted by three-time Emmy winner Mariska Hargitay, who was also a double nominee this year for directing and producing the documentary "My Mom Jayne." The evening paid tribute to two television landmarks: the 30th anniversary of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and the 50th anniversary of "Charlie's Angels," with cast members from both shows among the presenters.
In the competitive races, HBO Max's real-time emergency room drama "The Pitt" returned as a seasoned contender after winning best drama, best actor for star Noah Wyle and best supporting actress for Katherine LaNasa a year ago. The show was expected to repeat in all three categories and could add three more trophies, with Wyle himself up for three awards. Its ensemble earned four nominations in the supporting actress category and three more for supporting actor.
"Euphoria" made its Emmys return after a long absence with seven nominations. Zendaya, who won best actress in a drama for the show's first two seasons in 2020 and 2022, received a nod for the recently aired third season.
