Esha Deol Confirms Role in Malamaal Weekly 2, Calls Script 'Hilarious'
Esha Deol confirms she has signed Malamaal Weekly 2, praising the script as hilarious and a return to her comedy roots.
Actor Esha Deol has officially confirmed her involvement in the upcoming comedy sequel Malamaal Weekly 2. The actress, known for her roles in films like No Entry and Shaadi No. 1, expressed enthusiasm about returning to the genre.
"This is exactly what I needed – something fun, light-hearted and full of laughter," Deol said. She noted that after completing the horror-comedy Ghungat and SYG: Sambarala Yeti Gattu, she was keen to take on a full-fledged comic caper. "Having done films like No Entry, Shaadi No 1 and One Two Three, comedy is a space I've always loved and really wanted to come back to," she added, calling the script "absolutely hilarious."
The sequel, which has been in development since early 2026, will be directed by Amit Joshi, known for Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. The cast includes Raveena Tandon, Parineeti Chopra, Shilpa Shirodkar, Fardeen Khan, Elvish Yadav, Rajpal Yadav, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Soniya Bansal. Shirodkar's inclusion marks her return to Bollywood after a 26-year gap.
While the film will feature a completely new storyline, it will retain the core theme of the original – ordinary people in a small town, driven by poverty and greed, caught in a chaotic situation. Production is slated to begin in November 2026.
