Esha Deol and Soniya Bansal Board Malamaal Weekly 2's Expanding Cast

Esha Deol and Bigg Boss 17's Soniya Bansal join the growing cast of Malamaal Weekly 2, set to begin filming in November 2026.

The upcoming sequel to the 2006 cult comedy Malamaal Weekly has added two more actors to its roster. Esha Deol and Soniya Bansal, known for her stint on Bigg Boss season 17, have signed on for the project, according to production sources.

Deol, who previously featured in several comic films, was reportedly seeking a script that would mark her return to acting. The sequel's script and her role convinced her to come aboard. Bansal, who has appeared in films and music videos, was approached for a distinct part that the makers felt suited her screen presence.

The film, directed by Amit Joshi of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) fame, has been steadily building a large ensemble. Recent additions include Raveena Tandon, Parineeti Chopra, Shilpa Shirodkar, Elvish Yadav, Rajpal Yadav, Fardeen Khan, and Mahesh Manjrekar. Shirodkar's signing marks her return to Hindi cinema after a 26-year gap.

Malamaal Weekly 2 is expected to begin principal photography in November 2026. While the storyline will be entirely new, it will retain the original's thematic core: ordinary people in a small town, driven by poverty and the lure of sudden wealth, spiraling into chaos.
