EV and drone skill hub opens at Ongole ITI to train youth
A Centre of Excellence for EV and drone training was launched at Ongole's Government ITI by APSSDC, Mining Department and Centurion University.
A dedicated skill development hub for electric vehicles (EV) and drone technologies has been launched at the Government ITI Skill Development Centre in Ongole. The Centre of Excellence was inaugurated on Monday, September 7, 2026, as a collaborative effort between the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), the Mining Department, and Centurion University.
The initiative is designed to offer hands-on training in these emerging sectors to a wide range of learners, including ITI students, diploma holders, school dropouts, women, and unemployed youth. The primary objective is to create clear pathways to employment and self-employment in technology-driven fields that are expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
Prakasam District Collector P. Raja Babu, speaking at the launch, described the programme as a significant step toward preparing the district's young workforce for future industries. He noted that the training would help participants acquire modern technical skills, opening up new job opportunities.
Officials have urged all eligible candidates—including ITI and diploma graduates, those who have left school or college, women, and unemployed youth—to register for the courses and take advantage of the facility. The centre is expected to play a key role in bridging the skills gap in the region's evolving technology landscape.
