Woman, Two Granddaughters Killed by Express Train Near Doddaballapur

A woman and her two granddaughters were fatally hit by an express train near Doddaballapur while rushing to board a train.

A 46-year-old woman and her two granddaughters were killed on Monday morning after being struck by an express train on the railway track between Doddaballapur and Muttur. The deceased have been identified as Irfana, and her granddaughters Rukhiya, 13, and Raziya, 8, residents of Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh.

According to preliminary police information, the two girls had been visiting their grandmother's home for the holidays and were returning to Hindupur when the incident occurred. The family was walking towards Doddaballapur railway station from Muttur and had stepped onto the railway track.

The accident happened at a curve where two railway tracks converge. Eyewitnesses told police that Irfana, apparently running late, was in a hurry to reach the station to board an approaching train. She was reportedly dragging the girls across the track despite passers-by raising alarms and attempting to stop her. The high-speed express train ran over the three, killing them instantly. The impact was severe, leaving the bodies badly mutilated.

Railway police arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Yeshwantpur Railway Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
