Farage Declares Landslide Win in Clacton Byelection Boycotted by Main Parties

Nigel Farage has declared victory in the Clacton byelection, a contest that saw Britain's major political parties decline to field candidates. Speaking to supporters in Essex late Thursday, the Reform UK leader described the result as a "convincing, overwhelming win," framing it as a personal vindication against the political establishment and mainstream media.

The vote was triggered last month when Farage resigned his seat, a move he said would settle questions about his finances and deliver a resounding mandate. He had cast the election as a "people versus the establishment" contest, urging voters to act as his jury.

However, his political rivals dismissed the exercise as a stunt and refused to participate. This left Farage facing a field of 34 candidates, including political satirist Count Binface, who campaigns as a comic space alien. Farage claimed that canvassers from Labour, the Conservatives, and the Liberal Democrats were actively supporting Binface, calling the situation an "upside down world."

With counting still underway and a full result not expected until Friday morning, Farage said he would not attend the official count, citing a desire to avoid being "demeaned and humiliated." Despite the expected victory, questions regarding the millions of pounds in donations he has received are likely to persist.
