FBI-Noticed Fraudster Held in Jalandhar in $600,000 US Scam
Jalandhar Police arrested Manjit Singh Bedi, wanted by the FBI in a $600,000 fraud case in the US.
In a coordinated operation, Jalandhar Police have arrested Manjit Singh Bedi, an individual allegedly wanted by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in connection with a fraud case involving nearly $600,000.
The case was registered at a city police station on August 16, 2026, based on which investigations were initiated. Acting on a specific tip received a few days ago, a special police team was constituted to trace the accused. Bedi was intercepted and taken into custody while he was travelling, according to the Jalandhar Police Commissioner.
The alleged fraud was reportedly committed in the US between 2024 and 2025 in the name of a company. The FBI had declared Bedi wanted and issued a notice directing him to surrender his passport and related material to the agency. Police said he allegedly failed to comply and instead fled the US, eventually returning to India. The FBI had also announced a reward for information leading to his arrest.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the alleged fraud and Bedi's activities within India.
