Visakhapatnam Fisherman Found Dead on Beach; Sister Says He Feared for His Life

A 30-year-old fisherman was found dead on a beach at Kotha Jalaripeta under the One Town police station limits in Visakhapatnam on Monday morning. Police suspect he was murdered.

The deceased has been identified as Mylapalli Chanti, a native of Bhogapuram mandal in Vizianagaram district who resided in Paindorapeta. He worked as a fisherman in the city.

According to preliminary police information, Chanti had visited his sister Appalakonda's house at Kotha Jalaripeta on Sunday night. He appeared frightened and told her he feared he would be killed. She urged him to stay overnight for safety, and he initially agreed before going to sleep.

However, Chanti reportedly left the house later that night without his sister's knowledge. His body was discovered on the beach the next morning.

A preliminary examination revealed bruises around the neck, suspected to be from strangulation, along with a severe head injury. The nature of these injuries has led police to suspect foul play.

The CLUES team visited the scene and collected samples for forensic examination. The body has been sent for post-mortem. Three special investigation teams have been constituted to look into the case.
