FITM Opens 2026-27 Research Fellowships in Traditional Medicine Policy

FITM is inviting applications for its 2026-27 research fellowships in Indian traditional medicine policy, offering 20 positions with monthly stipends of up to Rs 75,000. The deadline is October 11.

The Forum on Indian Traditional Medicine (FITM) has begun accepting applications for its Research Fellowship Programme for 2026-27. The scheme is aimed at Indian citizens who wish to study Indian traditional medicine and the policy questions surrounding it, and it covers both doctoral and post-doctoral researchers.

Positions and Stipends

A total of 20 fellowships are on offer. The doctoral category has ten positions, split evenly between the AYUSH and non-AYUSH streams, with each selected fellow receiving Rs 70,000 per month. The post-doctoral category also has ten positions, again divided five each between AYUSH and non-AYUSH, carrying a monthly stipend of Rs 75,000.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Indian citizens who satisfy the eligibility conditions laid down for the doctoral or post-doctoral category. The proposed research must address policy-related dimensions of Indian traditional medicine. Clinical, pharmacological and pharmacognosy research falls outside the scope of the programme.
