Flávio Bolsonaro Campaigns at Site of Father's 2018 Stabbing

Presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro brought his campaign to Juiz de Fora on Wednesday, staging a symbolic event at the exact location where his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, was stabbed during the 2018 election race. The attack, carried out by a man later deemed mentally ill, occurred weeks before Jair Bolsonaro went on to win the presidency.

In a scene reminiscent of his father's campaign, Flávio was carried on the shoulders of supporters through the city's commercial district before addressing the crowd from a sound truck draped in the Brazilian flag. "We symbolically arrived where Bolsonaro would have arrived on September 6th, 2018, when he was stabbed," he told the gathering. "This shows that we will never give up."

The rally took place against a backdrop of intense political turmoil surrounding Brazil's Supreme Court. Supporters at the event chanted slogans against Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who served as rapporteur in the case that led to Jair Bolsonaro's 27-year prison sentence last year.

Moraes has recently come under renewed scrutiny following a public dispute with fellow Justice André Mendonça. Mendonça unsealed federal police documents indicating that Banco Master owner Daniel Vorcaro frequently sought Moraes' legal counsel before his arrest. While Moraes has denied any wrongdoing, investigations revealing that his wife provided legal services to the bank under a 130 million reais (approximately $25 million) contract have intensified pressure for his resignation. He has not yet publicly commented on the latest developments.

The Supreme Court crisis also dominated a separate Independence Day rally in São Paulo, where Flávio Bolsonaro's supporters called for Moraes' impeachment, displayed signs depicting the justice behind bars, and voiced support for Mendonça.
