Bengaluru Hotel Shut Down by Food Safety Officials Over Hygiene Lapses
FSDA officials raided and closed South Ruchi hotel in Bengaluru after consumer complaints, seizing items over hygiene and labelling violations.
Food safety regulators in Bengaluru have ordered the closure of a hotel kitchen on Race Course Road following a raid triggered by multiple consumer complaints. The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) acted on September 9 after receiving reports about poor food quality and unsanitary conditions at South Ruchi hotel.
During the inspection, officials identified alleged hygiene deficiencies and instances of mislabelling. Several items were seized from the premises. The hotel management has been directed to shut down its kitchen operations until it complies with prescribed food safety norms and passes a fresh FSDA inspection.
This action is part of a broader enforcement drive by the FSDA across the city. In recent weeks, the department has inspected and confiscated hundreds of kilograms of expired and incorrectly labelled food products from various establishments, including seven-star and five-star hotels, e-commerce food supply stores, fast food outlets, and club kitchens. The agency has also seized medicines procured by e-commerce supply stores without proper licences.
