FSSAI Halts Production at Wai Wai Noodle Factory Over Hygiene Violations
FSSAI has ordered CG Foods India to stop producing certain Wai Wai products after inspections found unhygienic practices, including reuse of broken noodles.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed CG Foods India, the manufacturer behind the popular Wai Wai noodle brand, to cease production of select items at its factory. The order follows inspections that uncovered serious lapses in food safety protocols at the facility.
During the checks, regulatory officials identified what they described as unhygienic practices, notably the reuse of broken noodle pieces in the manufacturing process. Additionally, the plant was found to be operating without the necessary production licences for certain goods.
The action effectively halts output of the affected Wai Wai products until the company addresses the violations and complies with statutory requirements. While the move does not constitute a blanket ban on the entire brand, it signals a firm regulatory response to quality-control failures.
CG Foods India has not yet issued a public statement on the matter. The development underscores the FSSAI's heightened scrutiny of packaged food manufacturers, particularly those with widespread consumer reach, as it seeks to enforce stricter compliance with hygiene and licensing norms across the industry.
