Taapsee Pannu's 'Gandhari' Explores a Mother's Relentless Fight

Taapsee Pannu is set to return to screens with 'Gandhari', a Netflix thriller written and produced by Kanika Dhillon. The film follows Bani, a mother who enters a dangerous criminal underworld to find her missing daughter.

At a promotional event on Tuesday, Pannu spoke about the real-life inspiration behind her character. She recalled newspaper stories of mothers who fought against overwhelming odds to protect their children. "When her child is in danger, I don't think a mother has any boundaries in her mind," Pannu said, adding that a mother would put her strength, courage, and even her life on the line for her child.

Dhillon described 'Gandhari' as a layered film that blends suspense with emotional depth. "It has a thrill, it has a story that will make you keep guessing," she said, noting that the film's mysterious atmosphere is designed to keep audiences intrigued.

Co-star Ishwak Singh, who plays a character closely tied to Pannu's, said the film gave him a glimpse into the grief of losing a child. "I am not a father in real life, so I have never experienced that emotion," he said. "But through this film, whatever I experienced was very special."

'Gandhari' premieres on Netflix on September 3.
