15 Workers Rescued After Iron Slab Collapse at Gandhinagar Site
Fifteen workers were pulled out after an iron slab collapsed at a construction site in Gandhinagar's Kudasan area on Wednesday night.
At least fifteen workers were rescued on Wednesday night after a large iron slab collapsed at an under-construction site in the Kudasan area of Gandhinagar. The incident occurred around 9 p.m., prompting a coordinated response from fire brigades, police, and the local administration.
Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, who visited the site, confirmed that twelve of the rescued workers have been admitted to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital. The remaining three, who sustained only minor injuries, were discharged after first aid. Sanghavi added that a report from the hospital superintendent indicated all twelve hospitalised workers are stable, with no one in a critical condition.
Health Minister Praful Pansheriya stated that five of the injured have been shifted for treatment so far, with some suffering fractures to the back and leg. A team of doctors is monitoring them, and a decision on any required surgery will be taken later.
More than four fire brigades were deployed to the site, using a large crane and electric cutters to clear the metal debris. The operation was expected to continue through the night to ensure no other workers remained trapped beneath the collapsed structure. The exact number of workers who were on the metal slab at the time of the collapse was not immediately clear, officials said.
