POCSO case: Ex-Gem Granites staffer held for withholding video of Veeramani
A former Gem Granites employee has been remanded in Puzhal Central Prison for allegedly possessing a video tied to the POCSO case against industrialist R. Veeramani and not informing police.
The Central Crime Branch has arrested a former employee of Gem Granites on allegations that he possessed a video purportedly showing industrialist R. Veeramani in an obscene act with a minor girl and did not pass the material on to the police.
The arrested man, Ganeshan, had spent 23 years working at Veeramani's Gem Granites and is presently employed with Balaji Global Enterprises. Investigators said the clip was found on his mobile phone. He was produced before a court, which ordered him remanded in Puzhal Central Prison.
Veeramani, the founder of Gem Granites, was arrested on August 29, 2026, along with two alleged accomplices, Shanthi and Mahendra Simhan. All three were remanded in Puzhal Central Prison after the Central Crime Branch registered a paedophilia case against them.
The probe into the wider case has widened since those arrests, with more survivors coming forward to give statements and investigators identifying the survivor in the POCSO Act matter.
In the latest strand of the investigation, the police are trying to establish who sent the obscene video to Ganeshan and the circumstances under which he chose not to inform them about it. Further investigation is under way.
