Germany, US Still Finalising Details of Tomahawk Missile Deal, Says Pistorius

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said on Tuesday that Germany and the United States have yet to settle the specifics of a planned German purchase of Tomahawk cruise missiles, following a meeting with US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth in Washington.

Speaking to reporters after the talks, Pistorius described the discussion as constructive. He said the two countries remain aligned on security concerns in Europe, even as the technical and contractual details of the missile acquisition are still being negotiated.

The minister did not disclose a timeline for concluding the arrangement or the quantities under consideration. The Tomahawk is a long-range cruise missile capable of striking targets at significant distances, and its potential transfer to Germany has drawn attention as European states reassess their defence capabilities.

Pistorius's remarks indicate that while the broader direction of the deal has been agreed, the finer points require further dialogue between the two governments. Both sides are expected to continue working through the outstanding issues in the coming period.
