Global M&A Roundup: EasyJet, Beazer Homes, and Genel Energy Deals
A roundup of major M&A deals announced on Friday, including easyJet, Beazer Homes, and Genel Energy.
A flurry of corporate activity marked the end of the week, with significant deals announced across the airline, homebuilding, energy, and technology sectors.
In the aviation industry, private equity firm Apollo Global has agreed to acquire European budget carrier easyJet. The deal values the airline at approximately £5.7 billion ($7.7 billion) and comes after rival suitor Castlelake withdrew its own pursuit.
The US housing market saw a major consolidation move as Dream Finders Homes announced its intention to acquire peer Beazer Homes. The all-cash transaction is valued at roughly $2.2 billion, including debt, and would position the combined entity as the sixth-largest homebuilder in the United States.
In the energy sector, Kurdistan-focused Genel Energy has rejected a takeover bid from Norwegian oil firm DNO. The company stated that the £202 million ($271.8 million) offer fundamentally undervalued the London-listed firm. Separately, BP has agreed to acquire Woodside Energy's 70% interest in the Calypso gas project offshore Trinidad and Tobago, taking full ownership of the early-stage deepwater discovery.
Also in the oil and gas space, Israel-based Ratio Petroleum Energy has increased its takeover bid for Pharos Energy to approximately £146.4 million ($196.97 million). This revised offer outbids rival Serica Energy and has won back the recommendation of Pharos Energy's board.
In the technology sector, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced the acquisition of chip startup Taalas. While the financial terms were not disclosed, the deal is intended to bolster AMD's technology for AI inference workloads.
Finally, in the corporate services arena, Axa XL has agreed to acquire the remaining shares of S-RM, a specialist corporate intelligence and cybersecurity consultancy, in which it already holds approximately 49%.
