Goa CEO says 97 left-off voters being enrolled via fresh Form 6 filings
Goa's Chief Electoral Officer says many of the 97 voters excluded from February's final roll have been enrolled, with the rest being processed.
The office of Goa's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said on Thursday that a number of the 97 people left out of the state's final electoral roll published in February have since been enrolled, and that the remaining cases are being taken up for inclusion.
In a statement, the CEO's office said the 97 cases were handled separately, with booth-level officers (BLOs) making house-to-house visits to complete Form 6 for each of them. "Many have since been enrolled, while the remaining cases are being processed," it said, adding that no eligible elector would be left behind.
Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Goel said the list of 97 had been flagged to the Election Commission in February before the final roll was published. He said he wrote to both district election officers immediately afterwards, directing that the cases be brought onto the rolls through Form 6, with BLOs visiting their addresses to complete the required documentation.
Data has since been compiled, Goel said, and many names from the list have been added after Form 6 was filed. For the rest, he said, BLOs will visit the addresses and the names will be added in a time-bound manner once the forms are filled.
The final roll for Goa, published after the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), recorded a net deletion of 1.27 lakh voters — 10.76 per cent of the state's electorate before the exercise began.
